The Purpose

I've created a place where women of all shapes and sizes can come and be themselves, share the joys and pains of their individuality and perhaps share insight with other women who are dealing with similar life situations.

As a woman, I will not allow society to define who I am because I already know who I am. The only opinions I value are those of my true friends and loved ones because they're the only ones who will dare to look me in the eye, speak the truth and will love me unconditionally regardless of my reaction.

While all women are invited to speak their hearts and minds on this blog, I ask that you please do so in good taste and refrain from using foul language and/or provocative topics. If we can do that...we're all good! If you wish to initiate a topic of interest feel free to email me at jkanahele@gmail.com and I will post it for open discussion. Again, all in good taste please. So let's do it! Empower each other and conquer our worst enemy...ourselves!

NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SIZE..."YOU ARE POWERFUL BEYOND MEASURE!"

I AM...
  • 48 years old.
  • A large framed, Polynesian woman (most of us are).
  • Food, especially desserts are my culinary BFF's.
  • I shape my eyebrows by shaving them because I'm too lazy to pluck them,  and when I wear make up its minimal.
  • I'm a great cook and baker.
  • I love quiet time, but have to sleep with some kind of noise on (go figure!)
  • I'm witty and I love to laugh, but laughing don't exist when I'm hot and sweating for no reason.
  • When taking photos of me, take them from the nose up!
  • I know exactly where to stand in a photo because I know where cropping works best.
  • Although I come from an amazing background of strong willed and empowering women who taught me to stand up for myself and hold fast to what I believe in, I still have my insecurities, my weight being one of them.
  • As of my recent session with Mapuana Reed Mataele and Jessica Freitag...Everything I learned from each of the women in my life came to fruition. As soon as Mapu in-boxed me my first image, a strong wave of emotion came over me and I could clearly see all the beautiful women of my past and  was reminded of the power I have as a woman to influence other women to reach for their full potential no matter what their race, color or size (yes, I said it!) Never ever settle for less than what you are worth.
